Kalibo – “I’ve Wanted Sunshine”

The silhouette of palm trees on an orange-magenta horizon, hair billowing in a warm breeze as it passes through an open convertible, waves crashing on a white sandy shore; Kalibo. Residing in Vancouver, Kalibo, the music project of Joel Jasper, embodies the sounds of summer with french influences the likes of Fred Falke, Alan Braxe, and label Roche Musique. His debut EP, I’m Slippin’ Away, showcases Kalibo‘s unique take on NuDisco and his ability to delve into deeper, bassier, music. “I’ve wanted Sunshine”, in particular, begins with a very falke-esque opening, the sounds of waves on shore, a reverberating chord progression, and a chiming vocal sample.

So, the next time you pick up burger, buns, and beer don’t forget to also cop Kalibo‘s I’m Slippin’ Away EP and follow his project over at Soundcloud.
