Adam Snow – “Goodbye, Old Friend”

I could trying and put the emotional tone of, now LA-based, producer Adam Snow‘s EP The Story So Far into words but it would not do the album justice. Not even close. Even if I thesaurus’ed the shit out it; Ardent, Fervent, Passionate, Sentimental, Despondent, none of these words sum the poignant nature and soundscape of this piece of art.

Today’s highlighted track “Goodbye, Old Friend”, is a fantastic representation of both Adam Snow and his debut EP. The song begins with / in  four layers, a melodic string-based lead played in a high-octave, a vocal sample crying from a reverbed distance, a deep, thudding, resonating kick-drum and as per Adam’s hip hop background, a clap.  As the song progresses, our attention is drawn towards Adam’s hi-hat work, intricate and heavily in 16th notes. Goodbye, Old Friend is a beautiful puzzle piece in an even more beautiful puzzle.
