Caius, our square-faced friend and producer from Copenhagen, puts his spin on Hayden James‘ “Just a Lover”. Similar to the original, Caius’ version is released by Future Classic, a phenomenal feat for someone who’s only been in the game a year, and it makes sense.
Caius’ rendition is mellow; it does not have a deep driving bass-line, it’s driven by melodic chord progression and reverbed vocals. It’s not until reaching the chorus does the song take full depth and begin to bounce, if only for several fleeting moments. The beat evolves and we have hi-hats playing on quarters, while the chord progression synth has a deep richness. Then, as quickly as it came, it’s peeled away, left bare with vocals and a simple chord progression.[soundcloud url=”https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/289874739″ params=”color=ff5500&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false” width=”100%” height=”166″ iframe=”true” /]
